Oh thank God!!! This is the last installment of #best09. I took this challenge to see if I could stick to a writing schedule. For the most part, I did. It’s harder than you think and really hard for me to write when I really don’t feel like it and sometimes I don’t. But, damn it! I did it. Hopefully, I didn’t bore y’all.

The subject for yesterdays #best09 was “best stationary”. Really? Do people still use stationary? I suppose they do. I do not. My form of communication is electronic. Although, I have an unnatural obsession with notebooks and journals and sketch pads and any manner of writing instruments…just not stationary.

So, instead a picture of the dinner I made last night. Yummy!

Best Breakfast – #best09

The best breakfast of the year always occurs on Christmas morning. It is simply hard boiled eggs, ham, cheese (dutch/danish variety), rye breads, marzipan pastries and other dutch treats. This year was no exception, so I thought I’d share some of the pics.

Most of the in-town family gathers at my Mom’s house at 10am. If you own footie jammies, you must wear them. Then we eat our selves into food comas before we open gifts.

The little ones always love Uncle Doug. (Kaela and Eliana)

Lula’s favorite gift this year…pink Nintendo DS.

Luckily, I love to learn.

Luckily, I am adaptable.

Luckily, I take easily to change.

Biggest learning experiences this year? There are many…

Patience. Lots and lots of patience.

Not always getting what I want…exactly when I want it.

Not being in control.

Being a single mom.

Not worrying about things or people I have no control over.

Letting things go.

Re-learning who I am and who I want to be.

Looking forward to many more lessons in 2010.

Google Picasa

I posted previously about my photo organizing project. Picasa has been extremely helpful in this task. The downloadable, free software has face recognition, which helps categorize the thousands of photos I have. Eventually, I will also be able to upload the albums onto the web for storage and to share. Invaluable! Gotta love the Google!

My other favorite Google products: GMail, Calendar, Voice and eventually I may even start using the Wave. This article lists all the great stuff from Google.

Playing Catch Up – #best09

Damn! I got behind and missed a few days. I did pretty good though, considering I did 18 days in a row. That’s a record. So, sorry, this will be a catch up.

12/19/09 – Best Car Ride: Had to be the fall drive I took with the girls up the canyons. I really missed the mountains while I was in the GA. It was beautiful and a great way to spend the day with my girls.

12/20/09 – Best New Person: So many new friends this year. So many re-connections with old friends. I couldn’t be luckier to have such great people in my life. But, one in particular stands out. This person has made such a difference in my life. Thank you.

12/21/09 – Best Project: My biggest project started this year that I am proud of? School! The first semester is done, with a big fat 4.0 GPA that I am VERY proud of.

12/22/09 – Best New Shoes: Hooker boots!! Granted they were for Halloween, but FUN! I’m going to find some other reason to wear them!
