I recently started following The_Real_Pope on the Twitter. Below is the tweetstream for today.
The_real_pope
-Things I’ve hidden in my hat during Mass: Popcorn, my favorite frizbee, a small dog.
-One time I wore a baseball cap *under* my pope hat. It was like casual Friday, on a Sunday. It was pretty much the most awesome thing ever.
-One time I found out I’d been mispronouncing spaghetti my entire life. I was all “Change it to ‘Pisketti’, assholes.” Papal infallibility.
-Then I remembered I wasn’t Pope yet. This was several years ago.
-That’s when I realized the other Pope had to die.
-But not like I killed him. Just like, I realized that eventually he’d die & we’d need a new Pope. And that that Pope liked “pisketti”.
-Then I got to be Pope and found out that Popes don’t have to power to make people stop saying “spaghetti”.
-I was all “What have i gotten myself into?”
-But by then it was too late. I was the Pope.
-This will all be in my book.
See! Twitter can be all kinds of educational. I had no idea I had so much in common with The Real Pope. I say ‘pisketti’ too!
Yes, this IS how I spend my waking hours.

You have to give him some props for that. As my friend Angela says,
“I admire the Pope. I have a lot of respect for anyone who can tour without an album.”
