It’s been quite a while since I wrote a real post. I think I mentioned I had some shit going on and couldn’t really talk about it here at the time. You’re in luck, now I can!
The company I was working for is, how should I say this?, going down in fucking big ass flames! I knew it was. Hell, everybody who works there knows it is.
Long story short…I was laid off and we are currently on our way back home to Salt Lake.
Thanksgiving day was spent packing up the Uhaul. I totally tried to pack the girls in so that I wouldn’t have to deal with them on the 4 day drive, but they escaped.

This morning we left Georgia. It took us about two hours to cross the GA/TN state line, at which time I yelled out several expletives while I honked the horn. Free at last!!! Only to remember after that, that this road dips back into GA for a few miles before going back into TN. Oh damn! I was sweating the bad GA karma for a few minutes there, but we made it.
We made it up TN and through KY and most the way across southern IL, ending just 25 miles east of St Louis.

Tomorrow will be across MO, through a corner of IA and into NE. By the way IA and NE are two new states for me, I think that will put me right about 38 states visited.
The drive today wasn’t too bad. Tal rode with me and read from the book I just bought her about every country in the world. We made it all the way from Afghanistan through Gabon and learned some pretty cool stuff. Our favorite tidbit so far…Underwater Jesus!!! No fucking lie!!! He is located in Belize and I am totally going to start praying to him. Shaweet!!!
The worst part about the drive today…the tension in my lower back. Probably due to my driving anxiety. I hurt so bad, I had to lean up against the truck and have Blain push as hard as he could on it to loosen it up at every stop. I’m sure that was a lovely sight to see. Probably looked quite scandalous, especially that one time on the on ramp. So tomorrow I will build a little shrine and pray fervently to Underwater Jesus that I not have so much anxiety. Then I’ll take a Xanax and we will get on our way!
