It’s so hard to be a tween

I had a little sit-down discussion with Lula tonight. She is 10 years old now. That great wonderful age in between childhood and the horrid teenage years. Her big sis is 14 and well into the teenage crap. Tal and Lula have always been very close, up until recently. They were each other’s best friends. We moved around a lot and never lived in a place where kids their ages were around, like we do now.

Poor little Lula is greiving the loss of their friendship. She doesn’t understand why Tal doesn’t want to play with her anymore or why Tal’s friends are more important than her. It’s a tough age, but I believe over time they will hopefully be friends again (like in their twenties). It’s sad to watch her go through it and I try to ease her pain when possible, but there is only so much I can do.

For now I will just try to enjoy every minute of her tween years, because she is still sweet and lovable.
