(I have no idea what happened, but I wrote this like a week ago and for some reason it didn’t post???? Oh well, enjoy it now!)

Yes, I am still alive. I just haven’t posted in like forever!

The past week and a half has been spent getting used to working a normal 9-5 job again. This was no easy transition for me. I used to get up, get the girls off to school, check my email, do a little work, take a little nap, get back up, do some more work, get the girls home from school, help w/homework, dinner, then a little more work and stay up all night screwing around on my blogs.

Now, it’s get up, get ready, drive 45 min to an hour to work, work all day, drive 45 min to an hour to get home, get bombarded by the hubby and girls, dinner (if the little beasts behave), then to bed early.

During the first week I had major issues keeping my eyes open right around 11am. Cat naps sitting at my desk in front of my computer SEVERAL times. It’s not like I was trying to fit a little nap in, it was more like I had been drugged with some kick ass sleeping pills. And don’t even let me get started about falling asleep during long boring meetings, especially if the host decided to turn off the lights for presentations. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz… It is hard to look interested in what is going on when your eyes keep rolling into the back of your head and drool is slipping out from the corners of your mouth. I wonder how many people were thinking, “What the hell is up with the new girl, she looks like she took a tranquilizer!” I have not had this sleepiness issue for about a week now. Bonus! So I think my internal clock has finally reset to “normal” people time.

So far I am totally digging my job though. I will give you a little run down. The company I am working for has about 650 employees (was only 5 employees when it was started 3 years ago) and has multiple divisions. I work on the corporate side of the house in the IT department as the IT Coordinator. Sounds fancy huh? I work directly for the VP of Technology basically as his assistant and to help him keep the rest of the IT department on track. We have an inbound and outbound call center and a massive network that we are responsible for. I do quite a bit of project management and I am currently helping coordinate the installation of a new telephone system (worth nearly $4 million!!!!!!). I attend most of the meetings that are IT related (atleast four per week), to include the weekly meeting with the CEO, CFO, CTO, COO and VPs of each division.

The company has had rapid growth and is in the process of restructuring with lots of cool new stuff coming up. The IT department consists of the development group (5 guys, 1 girl), the help desk (6 guys) and the system administrators (2 guys) and me.

I am still going to work VERY part time at the scrapbook store, because c’mon I can’t lose the awesome discount! I am only working one weekday night and one weekend day, so it should be pretty good. Really the first two weeks of the new job kicked my butt, but I am feeling pretty chillaxed now.
