My dog is an idiot

We recently had to throw the electric blanket on the bed because it has been quite nippley as of late. Both dogs sleep with us, under the covers. Blain was already in bed and just falling into a good slumber, when Nero starts dragging himself out from under the covers, which would normally not bother Blain, but he was panting heavily.

And smacking his chops from the cotton mouth from hell, like he has been crawling across a scorching hot desert for four days with no water. Hello idiot? Remove yourself from the electrified covers before you pass out! Blain had to carry him downstairs for a nice cool drink. Since I won’t be going to bed for several more hours, I am afraid that when I peel back the covers I will have two roasted dogs!

Kitty does similar idiotic things. Namely sitting on the hearth directly in front of a roaring fire until she is well done and gasping for some refreshement. You should see her. She can hear Blain starting it up and comes ripping in from where ever it is she was previously snuggled for the blazing heat. He can barely start the fire cause she is all up in his way. She also likes to stand on her hind legs and lean her front legs up on the kerosene heater when we are out in the garage having our smokey treats (holla! ) to the point that her belly is all pink with heat.

My dogs should live where it never gets chilly, it’s killing them.
