Nero and Kitty have a bed under the kitchen desk. It is nice and fluffy and soft. I try to wash it every once in a while, because it gets all doggy smelling. The second I pick up the bed or mess with the area under the desk at all, both of them go ballistic. As if to say, “What the hell are you doing with our bed? Put it back down woman! NOW!” Then they mope around while it is being washed and dried. Every little while they go to looking for it, sniffing around and then glaring at me. They know the bed was their earlier, where could it have gone? Then the they have a flashback of me taking it to the evil place in the closet where the bed hides out for a few hours and look at me in disgust. Once it comes out of the dryer, they do this little happy, jumping, prancy, antsy dance until it is placed back in their “den”.
Recently I bought a new bed, so that when the other one is being washed, they can still have one and will stop giving me the evil eye. So yesterday when I went to take the bed out to wash, we went through the whole routine of “what the hell”, “put it back”, “you are an evil bitch” thing. Then I break out the new bed. I swear I say little tears of joy in their eyes as they dances and jumped until I put it under the desk. Both of them jumped right in, sniffing, knowing that it was new, but still just happy that it had arrived. So I’m thinking, “Do they care where the bed is? or can it be anywhere to make them just as happy?” After physically extracting them from the bed, I pick it up (evil stares stab my back) and I throw it across the kitchen. Yep, they pounce right into, happy as clams. (By the way, they do not want seperate beds, it is a shared obsession.) So after doing this routine about 10 or 12 times, they still gave me the same reaction. OCD a bit?
Dogs are simple. Give them a nice bed, some food and water and a place to take a dump and life is all good! Moral of the story…have dogs, NOT kids! So much easier!

Kitty generally hogs it, as she does with everything else

Nero happy to catch a little nap

Kitty just daring me to take it again and through it into another room - she ain’t havin’ it!
