I have always hated when the kids were sick, especially if it was puking or fever. They always look so sad and pathetic and I just wish I had the power to make it all go away.
I think I may have to change my mind. I hate when “little kids” are sick, but I kinda like it when the teenager is sick. Tal got this virus worse than any of us. For the past five days previous to today, she has had a fever and felt utterly miserable. For two days straight I couldn’t get her fever to go below 99 and generally it wanted to hang out closer to 102. Look how pathetic she looks. All together now…Awwwwwwwwwww poor baby.

For five sweet, lovely days there was no one more important in her world anymore but good ol’ Mom. “Mom, come snuggle with me”. “Thanks for the soup Mom”. “Your the bestest Momma in the world”. “I love you Mom”. On and on and on. *sigh* I haven’t felt this kind of love from Tal since she was a wee tot. It kind of helped me remember why I once liked her. And actually had me think I could again.
Then she got better. Boo Hiss! And it’s back to me being the enemy. I never could figure out why people would feign sickness on their kids. I kinda get it now. Hmmmm…
She didn’t want her Dad when she was feeling yucky. Oh no, it was all me. Alas, he has risen back to top spot as the coolest parent on earth!

They were goofing off in the back seat of the truck on the way to dinner. Obviously, I have THREE kids! And yes, they all want momma when they’re sick. And yes, Mom sucks again when everyone is feeling better. I’ll gladly bear the burden for the rare moments when only Mom will do.
